Kitchen renovation is an exciting project that can drastically improve the way you use this essential space. To ensure best results, you need to hire an experienced home improvement company and you also need to make some of your own preparations
Unsure about where to start? Don’t worry! Case Design/Remodeling has compiled the ultimate kitchen remodeling checklist for you.
Before Making Purchases
Start by setting a budget. It’s up to you whether you want to do your browsing online or by visiting galleries. If you want to be able to see your options up close, visiting a design center or showroom is the way to go.
The Selection Process
Once you’re at the home remodeling showroom and talking to a renovation expert, these are the items you need to ask about/consider:
Appliances – size, specifications and where you plan on putting them. Remember to ask about energy-efficient options.
Design elements – these include flooring, cabinets, dinnerware, lighting elements and other fixtures such as faucets and handles. Be sure to make timeline and budgetary allowances in case of delivery delays and installation fees. This is especially important for custom-made items that may not be readily available and may require special installation processes.
If you’re staying in your home during the remodeling, you’ll want to set up a temporary kitchen. You’ll need disposable cups, plates and utensils. This is also a good time to bring out the ever-reliable crock pot so you can make big batches of meals that hopefully won’t spoil easily. Get as close as you can to a running water source, like a garden hose, to make washing up easier.
Clear out the clutter and perishable items from your kitchen before the remodelers arrive. Stock up on garbage bags and cleaning rags as well.
