After the final nail is hammered into place in your home renovation project, you will likely breathe a sigh of relief. However, the work isn’t finished. There are a few things you need to attend to post-renovation to ensure the success of your project.
Read on as Highland Design + Build, one of the top local home remodelers, provides a handy post-renovation to-do list.
Consider Deep Cleaning
Any construction project kicks up a good amount of dust. While a good contractor will do everything in their power to minimize the mess and will clean up thoroughly once the work is done, there are limits to what they can do.
Before you furnish your remodeled space, dust the space thoroughly. You may have to do some deep cleaning post-construction to ensure the space is spotless. You may want to dust your entire home as well as dust can travel surprisingly far.
Install a New HVAC Filter
After a construction project, chances are that your HVAC filter is clogged up. Replace it or wash it if it is reusable before running your HVAC system again.
Update Your Insurance
Once your interior remodelers have finished their work, you should advise your insurance agent about the project. You may be able to get some discounts if your home’s weather resistance was improved as a result of the project. Also, make sure to get coverage for any new products you bought to protect your investment.
Submit Warranty Documents
Fill out all of your warranty forms and send them to the makers of your recently purchased appliances. Otherwise, you may not be compensated if any of the new products are defective.
